Question 1:

Is it cold on a narrowboat in winter?

This has to be the most common question related to narrow-boating, so for those not experienced in narrowboats the answer is yes! it is very cold, until you switch your diesel heater on or light the wood/coal burner, also central heating is as common on boats as it is in houses, the temperature inside the boat will often exceed that of a house and you may have to open a door or side hatch/door to even the temperature down a bit.

There's even a song written about it! by the award winning folk/roots musician Phil Underwood seen here with his wife Denise performing the song in the traditional back cabin of their boat.
